TAG Heuer have unveiled a new, rose gold edition to its line of Connected smartwatches, retailing at £7,500 – a price that is both a far cry from the £1,300 its non-gold cousin retails at and one that many industry pundits consider to be a significantly inflated, consider the somewhat like-for-like functionality it offers when compared with many of the other, far less expensive smartwatches currently on the market.
Although the Connect was a considerable success with UK consumers when it launched earlier in the year, the smartwatch market has quickly moved into decline, with many experts stating their belief that there is no longer appetite from consumers for these products, with sales of such devices having fallen some 51.6% on this time last year.
The Swiss watchmaker will be hoping that the fortunes of its latest smartwatch will buck this trend, banking that one of its major selling points – an offer from TAG Heuer that once the two-year warranty expires, owners of the watch will be able to trade-in their Connected for an exclusive edition Carrera Calibre 5 mechanical watch – will be enough to entice avid fans of brand into a purchase.
“Living, travelling, getting information, connecting; the TAG Heuer Connected watch is the perfect partner,” said a representative for TAG Heuer.
Adding that, “It brings together the best of both worlds: a magnificent TAG Heuer watch with computing intelligence. TAG Heuer worked closely with Intel and Google to create a luxury watch that combined connectivity and computing intelligence with Swiss watchmaking heritage. Intel engineered the intelligence inside the watch to optimise performance and enable a multitude of connectivity options including audio streaming, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi as well as allow users to harness the full range of features offered by the Android Wear operating system,”
TAG Heuer Connected Rose Gold Edition
The TAG Heuer Connected Rose Gold Edition is the most expensive Android Wear smartwatch released to date and just like the rest of the watches within the Connected collection, features a 46mm case, housing a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom-powered computer that packs 1GB of RAM, 4GB of storage and a 410mAh battery – making it the TAG Heuer Connected the most powerful Android Wear watch on the market.
It boasts a sapphire crystal touchscreen, a 1.5in fully circular transflective LTPS LCD display, an in-built microphone that enables communication between the wearer and Google Voice control and has a water resistance rating of IP67 under IEC standard 60529, making it a great every-day wearable smart device.
This watch is available now at £7,500, however if it’s a little rich for your blood, the rest of the Connected collection is currently retailing at around £1,300, offering a considerable saving over this latest iteration.
